Jethro

My sister-in-law and I decided to buy our mother-in-law a puppy. Most of you know Linda (my mother-in-law) and you know that she desperately misses her grandchildren. Clay and I Iive 3 hours away in Lubbock, while Rachael and Cody live 9 hours away in Houston. So Rach and I were talking on the phone one day and decided to be brave and just get her a dog because we thought it would make her less lonesome in the lively town of Crane!!!! Ha Ha!!! Both her and I knew that by doing this we would more than likely upset the father-in-law. I thought that he might even make me take the dog back!!! But anyways, we decided to go for it. I jumped on the internet and found some breeders here in the LBK. I was really wanting to get her a golden doodle or a labradoodle because they are hypo-allergenic, but finally decided those were waaaayyy to expensive. I found a family that had bloodhound puppies. I called and the owner was a sweet stay at home mother whom had two kids of her own. She proceeded to tell me about the breed and how good her two older dogs are with her children. This woman wanted the pups to go to a good home with a good family. Our happy McGuire family was a perfect fit. I met her here in town. She pulled up with a basket of 4 puppies. They were all gorgeous!!!! I didn't know which one to pick. I finally decided on Tank. He was the biggest and laziest of them all. He sniffed Jorja real good and then just layed back down. I thought he had a great layed back personality. I called Rachael and we completed the deal. We were planning on meeting in Crane to surprise Linda on Valentines day. Linda had no idea and neither did Bill. I was mentally preparing myself for the wrath of Bill (I was mainly planning on blaming it on Rachael). When we pulled into the drive in Crane Linda came running out to get her grand-daughter and opened the door to her new companion with a bow around his neck. We said "Happy Valentines Day!" She almost died with excitement!!!! She pulled him out and said "this is for me?" I have never seen her so surprised and happy to receive something. It was worth all the pee and poop I cleaned up in my house and even the harassment of Bill, that I knew was coming. Linda ran to Bill and showed him what she had received and I swear it was love at first sight!!! Bill was elated!!! He picked him up and looked him over and said "now that's a good looking dog!" He loved it! I was so happy and relieved that Rachael and I were off the hook. Bill even ended up naming the dog. Bill named him "Jethro" and called all of his friends to tell them about "his" new dog. Clay kept reminding him that it was Mom's dog. Jethro gets along well with all of the grandchildren and even treed his first cat the other day. Bill called and bragged on him. In conclusion, I believe Jethro has served his purpose and then some.
